Adored by everyone from broke college students to people who need a quick meal, instant noodles are universally beloved by all. While the origin of ramen itself comes from China, where does instant ramen originate from?
Instant ramen was first invented by Momofuku Ando of Nissin Foods in 1958. At the first launch the brand was initially called Chicken Ramen, but it later grew to the infamous name we know today as Cup of Noodles. Interestingly the easy to prepare food was once considered a luxury and prized highly among grocery stores in Japan. In 2011 alone almost 95 million packages of instant ramen was consumed all over the world. Safe to say, it’s still a popular dish.
